4-staged and stepless automatic transmissions (ат and cvt)

General information

The real Head Korobka of gear shifting is devoted 4-staged and to stepless automatic transmissions (AT and CVT). On the Civic models 4-staged AT of three types are used: A4RA, B4RQ and A4RA, and also stepless M4VA CVT. The Integra models are equipped with 4-staged MP7A, S4XA and SP7A AT. Information on the manual boxes of gear shifting (MBGS) is provided in a 5-staged manual box of gear shifting.

Placement of AT/CVT and the components accompanying it in a motive compartment of the car it is given on an accompanying illustration below.

In view of complexity of designs of AT and CVT, absence on free sale of replaceable internal components, and need of use of the special equipment, authors of the present manual do not recommend to owners of cars to carry out capital repairs of transmission by own forces.

Sometimes, in case of serious breakage, more reasonable it appears to replace transmission, than to spend time and funds for restoration failed. Regardless of the chosen way of introduction of the failed transmission to action, independent performance of its removal and installation will help to cut down expenses substantially.
In view of the aforesaid, in this Part only procedures of removal and the AT/CVT installation are considered.
