Removal and installation of wheel cylinders

In case of leaks wheel cylinders are subject to replacement without fail. Manufacturers do not recommend to make attempts of carrying out recovery repair of these knots of brake mechanisms.



1. A car back also establish to Poddomkratta it on props. Prop up forward wheels antiretractable boots.
2. Remove the brake drum and boots (see Replacement of boots of drum brake mechanisms of back wheels).
3. Clear the wheel cylinder and surfaces surrounding it of dirt.

4. Disconnect the hydraulic line from a back part of the wheel cylinder (see an accompanying illustration). In order to avoid a rounding off of shlits of the union use a special cap key with a cutting head. At a detachment do not pull for a metal tube of the brake line in order to avoid its deformation capable it is essential to complicate the procedure of connection. At once to a zakuporta the open end of the brake line for the purpose of minimization of losses of liquid and in order to avoid hit in hydraulic system of dirt.

5. Give two bolts of fastening of the wheel cylinder (see an illustration above).
6. Remove the wheel cylinder from a brake board and transfer it to a pure workbench.

If on frictional overlays of brake boots there are traces of hydraulic liquid, boots should be replaced, and carefully to smooth out the working surface of the reel.



1. Grease the interfaced surfaces of the wheel cylinder and a brake board with RTV sealant. Install the cylinder on the regular place and connect to it the hydraulic line. Do not tighten still nipple nut.
2. Screw fixing bolts and strongly tighten them. Now it is possible to tighten a nipple nut finally. Establish into place shoe assembly.
3. Pump over the brake system (see Pumping of the brake system).
4. Before starting operation of the car, make sure of serviceability of functioning of brakes.
